Glasses-free has "inherent limitations".
Glasses-free stereoscopic 3D has "inherent limitations", Sony has said.
Responding to complaints about having to wear glasses to view games and movies in stereoscopic 3D, the PlayStation 3 manufacturer explained why it's the best solution and will be for a good while.
"There are already glasses-free TVs, big screens and small screens out there," Mick Hocking, Sony's 3D gaming boss, told Eurogamer at the Develop conference this week.

Time trial modes for micro machines.
Well recieved racer F1 2010 is being ported to iOS devices, Jump Games has announced.
Priced 2.99, the game includes all the teams and circuits of its bigger brothers.
The miniaturised version focuses on Time Trial-based gameplay.

The Outsider "will come out", says Braben.
Elite IV is happening, Frontier boss David Braben has confirmed, but "very slowly".
At GDC this year the legendary British game developer gave us an update on the status of Elite IV, saying "It would be a tragedy," if it were not still on the cards.
This week at the Develop conference in Brighton, Braben told Eurogamer, "We're not announcing anything yet.

Over £1m raised.
PlayStation players have donated more than 129.7 million yen (over £1.01m) to Sony's Japanese earthquake appeal.
Thousands of gamers answered Sony's call for support following the devastating natural disaster in Japan earlier this year.
North American PSN users raised £260,955, those in Europe and PAL territories stumped up £538,122, while Asian countries other than Japan coughed up £16,673. Japanese gamers themselves put down £181,751.

EA's digital PC store Origin can activate Steam codes for some EA games.
PC Gamer successfully redeemed keys for Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Dragon Age 2, Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect 2, Dead Space 2 and Alice: Madness Returns. Mass Effect 1, however, did not work.
PC Gamer managed to validate the Steam product key for Dragon Age 2 on Origin, and then launch the Steam version of DA2 from the Origin client. The Steam overlay and chat functions were intact and present.

A real tome of Diablo lore will be released alongside Diablo III, Blizzard has announced.
You’ll be able to nonchalantly flick through pages of backstory, who’s-who and what-does-this-class-do until your heart is content, wrote GameSpot. It sounds like the book spans the entire Diablo franchise
The lore book will be themed as the journal of Deckard Cain, the iconic old magician and advisor from Diablo I and Diablo II. Maybe there will be snazzy artwork. Maybe the lore book will be stuffed inside Collector’s Editions of the PC action role-playing game.

Beta test weekends start in September.
EA has promised that massively multiplayer online game Star Wars: The Old Republic will launch this year.
Additionally, EA announced beta test weekends begin this September. These weekend play sessions will be open to selected players worldwide.
Yesterday EA opened up pre-orders of the game, which comes in three flavours.

Sony faces 55 class-action lawsuits in the US as a result of April’s PlayStation Network breach.
Class-action suits require a volume of people to bring a case to court.
The 55 number was alleged by insurance company Zurich American, a branch of Zurich Financial Services, during a separate court case against Sony, Reuters reports.
